Non starter

Went to start car (911 2 litre) this morning, ignition on, car cranks. Then starter sticks, and then nothing. Put car in gear and moved it in case starter was stuck. Still nothing. Now, there is no ignition light, and there is no 'click' when you turn the key. As it is really sunny today, I can;t ch...

Not the spring. I was going to ask about that... :)
I moved the small clip but left everything else on the back of the bigger wheel.

Thanks all. I now have the Prototipo on the car (although I must admit, I now prefer the older larger wheel, hmm....) New problem, the old wheel was really solid and didn't move up or down, or side to side. Now I have the new wheel on, there is at least a quarter inch movement up and down. Is this t...

Steering wheel removal '68

Job for today was replacing the OEM steering wheel with a Prototipo on the '68 SWB. However, I can't get the horn puck and butterfly off. I can't see any retaining pins, but don't want to keep pulling on it like a maniac. Any clues? Thanks.

I think Alan and Nick have more information on this, but I understand that all Deep six wheels are for tubed tyres. The later flat sixes are for tubeless tyres, and have a 'J' (which determines if they are tubeless) in the size i.e. 6J x 15 etc.... I think there 'may' have been some deep sixes that ...

Ian, I agree. By the way, how heavy are the minilites? I was given one to hold by the guy from RennSport Classics as Husborne Crawley last year and I thought it felt really heavy.

Comment re: kinikh for readers in the UK. 'Handcutting' the slick portion actually means cutting the sidewall because that is how the tyre is deemed legal - the sidewall is defined as curving around onto the road surface element so it is not a 'slick' that;s the whole point. I would suggest that if ...

can I just add a related request please... I read in the 1968 performance book that Porsche recommends longer wheel studs if you put 6 inch wheels on SWBs, and certainly if you fit 7Rs. As that is the intention at some point, is this true - or rather, do people do it and if so, where do you get them...

It just depended on the history and where the box was before - maybe you don't know if you got the box with the car. 'airport' relates to a certain set or single gears that 'may' be in the box as a racing set up on 'flat' (read airport) tracks, and are pretty rare (OK, read $$$). There are cleverer ...

Do you have any more details, e.g. case number, LSD, gears inside (airport etc..)?
Does it come with the Beetle attached :bom:
