Hi Richard,
Yes I sold my car recently to a French. No vat need to be paid, you just need to keep part 11 of the V5C which you signed and send it to the DVLA.
You give the rest of the V5C to the buyer, he will need it to register the car in France.
That is all!

I know it seems unlikely and too simple, but check the state of the points – see if there's even any gap – as they closed right up on my MFI Carrera and it behaved like the fuel pump had packed up, ran roughly, backfired, you name it...
