It wont fit!

Hi All, Sorry, here's another question for you! I am trying to fit the rain drip tray into the boot (it was missing when I bought the car) and it seems to clash with the wiper motor. The car is RHD so it may look different to most in this area. Is the wiper motor in the wrong location, as it looks l...

Here's a better picture of the area where the breather hose should be screwed on. However, it looks like the screw hole has been filled in with braizing material. Should this be drilled and tapped into this location? Hope this makes sense and any replies will be most appreciated... http://i432.photo...

Hi All, Thanks for your help. The wire is for the bonnet loom to supply the trunk light. The loom is missing so I will have to sort that out. It will be quite a luxury to have some illumination in the boot. Work on the boot stripping back is going well, here is a picture of the progress so far. I am...

Thanks for the replies. Alan, the breather on my fuel tank is on the top, so putting the pipe through the hole then means that it needs to come back up again somewhere. Does the pipe then squeeze between the tank and the bulkhead at the back of the tank? Also, the plastic pipe doesn't fit onto the t...

Thanks.

I don't think there is a bulb (or bulb holder for that matter) in the boot lid so that might explain why the wire doesn't go anywhere. I'll investigate tomorrow.

Cheers,

Fuel tank breather pipe?

Hi all, Another quick question for you, your comments would be appreciated. Whilst stripping my boot back I discovered what looks like a fuel tank breather pipe but it is not connected properly to the car (missing bolt?) and does not seem to look right. Does anyone know exactly what the thin pipe an...

Where is this wire supposed to be connected?

Hi all, Does anyone know what this extra wire is for? The loom may not be original but I thought it was worth asking to see if other cars have this connected to something. My car is a 1965 RHD 912 but was restored in 1995. I'm in the process of stripping the boot back to bare metal so please ignore ...

Hi Martin,

For what its worth, I think it would look better with overriders. Its the way that Mr Porsche designed it.

Hi All, Many thanks for your comments, I thought I would give an update on the gearbox issue. I think it was Homer Simpson who said that 'If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing.' So I have managed to get hold of a good smooth case early gearbox from Max at Revival cars. I fitted the ge...

I think I saw this car at Tower Porsche in March 2007. I was looking at another car at the time so didn't pay it too much attention. I have a few photos if you want me to e-mail them to you. 2 x inside the car and a couple outside.

Thanks for trying Alan. Sorry I didn't call back on Saturday I had baby issues! Have now discovered that the clutch fork from my older g-box won't fit to the newer box. Perhaps this isn't meant to be. I will try the spacers and also try to source another smooth case if possible. I am also considerin...

Hi David, Thanks for the reply. Do you think a spacer is a bad idea? I am a Design Engineer and can arrange for a Stainless Steel spacer to be machined to connect my current axles with the newer gearbox drive flanges. Also, do you have a good contact to look at a gearbox re-build? I am in the West c...
